Greatest Movies Through 1960

Best Movies Compiled From Many Sources

* Other: Filmsite.org – The Greatest 100 Movies of All Time RANKED

This is an interesting top 100 list of movies chosen by filmsite.org (Tim Dirks) – but the RANKING of that list changes as people vote a movie UP or DOWN in the list!  For example, filtered for movies released through 1960, on June 9, 2012 the #2 movie was The Wizard of Oz – but on June 24, 2012 (just two weeks later), The Wizard of Oz was #4. I know the list changes dynamically as the public votes because I saw one movie move up one notch in the ranking after I voted it UP. As more people vote, perhaps the list will solidify.  Here is the list of movies released through 1960 as ranked on the list as of June 24, 2012:

  1. Casablanca
  2. Gone With The Wind
  3. It’s A Wonderful Life
  4. The Wizard of Oz
  5. Psycho
  6. Citizen Kane

* A Star Is Born is on the list on Filmsite.org’s website, but is not on that same list as it is ranked by the public – instead, Touch of Evil is on that list.  So we put it at the end of the list to be sure it is included.
